Sports/Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).

Stretches and compressive movements are added as needed to create a dynamic and circulatory effect. Not only for athletes, it’s beneficial for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

What are the benefits of Sports/Deep Tissue massages?

  • Maximize the supply of nutrients and oxygen through increased blood flow

  • Reduce the chance of injury, through proper stretching and releasing tissue tension.

  • Improve range of motion and muscle flexibility, resulting in better posture, improved power and performance during sports.

  • Shorten recovery time between workouts

  • Flushing of metabolic by-products.

What to Expect

Sports/Deep massage can be done clothed or not depending on the objective and duration.

30-minute sessions are beneficial pre or post sporting events to increase circulation and flush metabolic toxins and are done clothed.
Sessions of 60-90 minutes are done between physical efforts or as maintenance to allow the body to receive more focused attention and are done disrobed (keeping your underwear). Deep pressure is used on tight muscles but always within one’s comfort level. It shouldn’t hurt, but it might be a bit more uncomfortable than a classic Swedish massage. You should always feel free to speak up if the pressure is too much for you. .

Communication is the key!

It’s important to drink a lot of water after a deep tissue massage to help flush lactic acid out of the tissues.

Testimonials

My wife put me in touch with Lyn. I was skeptical because I have not had much success, even in the US, with people who had really strong hands. I like a lot of deep pressure and have rarely found it in either country. I have to say that I was surprised and pleased that such a small woman could apply such pressure. Lyn is outstanding and I highly recommend her. Lyn goes the extra mile. She goes out of her way to find out about your problem.

I had a great experience with the sports massage. I had an old hamstring injury and Lyn helped me increase my range of motion. Sessions start with an interview to find how to tailor the massage to what you need, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Recommended!
